(April
11, 2006)
Dialog, a Thomson business, and a long-time supporter
of the Special Libraries Association (SLA), announced
today that it will again sponsor the Australia & New
Zealand Informational Professional of the Year Award.
Nominations are now being accepted for the award,
which is given annually by the Australia and New
Zealand chapter of the SLA. Dialog also sponsored
the award in 2005—the inaugural year for the
award.
The SLA Australia & New Zealand Informational
Professional of the Year Award carries a prize of
AUD$2,000. This year's winner will be announced
at the SLA 97th Annual Conference, 11-14 June 2006,
in Baltimore, MD, USA, and presented at the Australian
Library and Information Association (ALIA) 2006 Biennial
Conference, 19-22 September 2006, in Perth, Australia.
The Dialog-sponsored award is open to all full-time
information professionals, including corporate and
government librarians, independent information consultants,
knowledge managers and others working and living
in Australia or New Zealand. A special panel of Australia
and New Zealand SLA chapter board members and Dialog
management will select the winner.
"This is an exciting time for the information
profession in Australia and New Zealand, as we are
seeing a great deal of innovation and growth," said
Sue Henczel, SLA Chapter Past President and training
manager with CAVAL, Ltd., a national consortium of
libraries based in Melbourne. "By recognizing
the achievements within our industry, we can continue
to raise the level of performance for all information
professionals."
Nominations should be e-mailed to Sue Henczel at .
The deadline for submitting nominations is 12 May
2006. Individuals may nominate themselves or others.
"Dialog is dedicated to empowering the information
professional, and we are pleased to once again sponsor
